TODDLER ROOM DESIGN: WILLIAM MICHAEL.
It was love at first sight for us here at The Animal Print Shop when we received photos of toddler William Michael’s triangle-themed bedroom. We were even more elated to learn that the inspiration for his show-stopping patterned wall came from a very familiar-and much-beloved-source: our very own Baby Fox.
“We actually started with Baby Fox,” explains San Francisco interior designer Laurie Betz. “My clients had to have it, so we built on that. The yellow and green pops of color seemed to be a natural choice to complement the print. We also wanted a fun and hip pattern for the wall – the fox and the triangle chain seemed to fit together perfectly. They give the room a modern Southwestern-meets-boy-scout vibe.”
To create the pattern, Laurie took a decidedly inventive approach, using household sponges cut into triangles as stamps. “I chose to do a stamp because I knew it would be quick and inexpensive – it was so easy,” she says.
Other personality-packed additions to the space included a rocking chair by Thomas Moser, a handsome vintage dresser, a lacquered tray from West Elm, and a gray-and-white patterned DwellStudio pillow. Another notable accent: a white ceramic antelope, also from DwellStudio, a charming companion for our sweet fox. “Foxes are, by nature, very wary and wise, which seemed fitting for this little boy,” Laurie explains. “I chose just a single print for now, but what I love about the Animal Print Shop collection is that you can add as you go.”
For now, though, it seems Baby Fox has found a happy home. Says Laurie, “The family has started telling stories at bedtime instead of reading books, and now Baby Fox goes on a different big adventure every night!”
In this space, Baby Fox Little Darling is our 10″x13″ size.
